Tina Knowles and Beyoncé react live to Simone Biles’ gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Tina Knowles and Beyoncé couldn’t contain their excitement as Simone Biles secured Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Knowles, 70, posted a clip on Instagram on Saturday, August 3, showing their live reaction to Biles, 27, winning the individual all-around artistic gymnastics competition.
As Biles and teammate Suni Lee celebrated on the floor in Paris holding an American flag on Thursday, August 1, Miss Tina and Mrs. Carter shouted their encouragement from home.
“Come on, Simone, come on,” Beyoncé, 42, exclaimed.
Biles’ win marked the fifth consecutive Olympic Games where an American gymnast has won the individual all-around in artistic gymnastics.
She previously won gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and was a favorite for the 2020 Tokyo Games, where she withdrew due to “the twisties,” a mental condition affecting gymnasts’ spatial awareness. Lee, 21, claimed gold in her absence.
Biles’ latest victory solidified her as the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history. She added another gold medal in the vault competition on Saturday, August 3. Brazilian gymnast Rebecca Andrade was a close competitor, earning silver in both the all-around and vault competitions.
“I don’t wanna compete with Rebeca no more — I’m tired,” Biles joked in a press conference after the all-around win. “She’s way too close.”
Biles has been an advocate for mental health issues, using her platform to highlight its importance. Following her record-breaking win, she shared a photo on Instagram with the message “mental health matters.”
