“Family over everything” – On Thanksgiving Day, Coco Gauff shared a beautiful family moment on her social media account. In a video clip, we saw her spending some quality time with her loved ones. She enjoyed dancing and singing songs with her family members. It was literally an overdose of family love and affection! Recently, the American star yet again shared a glimpse of a similar familiar moment, but this time, she was only accompanied by her mother, Candi, and grandmother, Yvonne.

and attends the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church regularly. She is even a member of the choir there and has previously mentioned that her faith is an important part of her life. On Sunday (December 8), Coco Gauff paid a visit to a church alongside her mother and grandmother. Both Gauff and her mother shared glimpses of those moments in their IG stories. Gauff shared a picture on her IG story in which she was spotted posing with her mother and grandmother in front of a Christmas tree.

She captioned that post with, “3 generations @candigauff @yonne.odom.” For those who are unaware, these two ladies have played a special role in Coco Gauff’s upbringing. Gauff is often seen giving credit to her parents for her enormous success in the racquet sport. After winning the US Open title in 2023, we saw her reflecting on her love for her family. She said, “They’re just really my support system. They’re helping me remember, you know, my clothes and everything, and my dad is still sending me scouting reports for every match. But my mom is more so, you know, just being a mom.“

Even her grandmother, Yvonne Lee Odom, has been a big inspiration for this tennis star. She was the first Black person to attend Seacrest High School in Florida. Gauff credits her grandmother as the “main” influence behind her decision to use her platform to advocate for important social issues.

However, this wasn’t the first time that we saw Gauff making the most of her holidays by prioritizing time with her family. In 2022, she was seen spending time with her family and enjoying some sibling banters while preparing herself to enter the festive mood during Christmas time. She even recreated a cute and adorable family picture during the Christmas Day celebration.

Then a year later, on Christmas Eve, she was spotted alongside her family at the Hard Rock Stadium for a Miami Dolphins game. She gave a pose with her family in matching Dolphins gear and shared that post with the caption, “Christmas eve [Christmas emoji] + dolphins W [dolphin emoji] = a good ole jolly time [heart emoji].” Highlighting more on Gauff’s religious side, do you know Coco Gauff is a regular reader of the Bible?

We’ve often seen Coco Gauff praying before her matches and thanking God for the results after the match. Speaking on this habit during a previous interview with the New York Times, Gauff said, “Before every match since I was 8, my dad and I say a prayer together.” Coco Gauff is just 20 years old, and she’s already a Grand Slam champion! What does she pray to God for, though? More titles? Well, in reply to this in the same interview, she said, “We don’t really pray about victory, just that me and my opponent stay safe.”

After winning the US Open in 2023, we saw Coco Gauff kneeling down on the floor and praying to God for gifting her this beautiful moment so early in her career. Speaking on that memorable moment, Gauff later spoke about the importance of faith in her life. In 2022, Coco Gauff reached the final of the French Open, but she was defeated by Iga Swiatek in the final. So, reflecting on the rise from that downfall, she added, “That French Open loss was a heartbreak. I realized God puts you through trials. This makes this moment even sweeter than I could imagine.“

In August this year, Coco Gauff also spoke about how she regularly reads the ‘Bible‘ and reverently practices scripting down her feelings to compartmentalize them and channel them in a spiritual direction for better insight. “I have two journals, I read the bible every day. Then I have a personal one where I just write usually the night before I play. It’s something I’ve always done but just do it more frequently because it holds you accountable for your feelings and your thoughts,” she said.
