Just In : Travis Kelce faced ‘Resentment and Envy’ after his First day on set for Grotesquerie.
Travis Kelce is no stranger to the spotlight, but this week he took fans’ breath away by revealing he is stepping into his first major acting role. In classic Kelce fashion, he flashed his iconic smile and delivered the perfect message on Instagram after wrapping filming his first day on set.
As reported by Deadline, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is being cast alongside Niecy Nash-Betts in the FX series Grotesquerie, which will premiere this fall. The show is produced by Ryan Murphy, the mind behind other FX smash hits such as Nip/Tuck and American Horror Story.
The charming Kelce and Nash-Betts already showed their instant chemistry in a series of Instagram stories, featuring their “late night shenanigans” as well as Kelce’s first announcement on his page that he was working on the show.
While it is technically his first major acting role, Kelce has plenty of familiarity with TV production.
The 34-year-old acted in several sketches while hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2023. His experience in scripted TV also includes an appearance in one episode of the Showtime series Moonbase 8.
Kelce also appeared in front of the camera in his reality dating series Catching Kelce, which lasted one season in 2016, long before Taylor Swift became the winner of that prize. He is also set to host Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? game show.
That’s not to mention his role in Prime’s documentary about his family and his New Heights Show podcast, hosted with brother Jason Kelce. Jason himself is jumping into a bigger TV role now that he is retired from NFL, with reports suggesting he will become part of ESPN’s Monday Night Football crew.
With so much experience, it’s no surprise Kelce boiled down his first day as a major actor to a cheeky joke: “I’m just glad I didn’t hurt nobody!”
