“Work from home, Offseason under the sun,” Coco Gauff said as she began her preparations for the next season. The American sensation is looking to carry the momentum from her WTA Finals victory and make a positive start to the 2025 season. Many in the tennis circle feel that the next year will be crucial for Gauff. She is dubbed to win big titles in 2025 if she can maintain the form she showed toward the end of this season. Ahead of the start of the next season, Gauff has already announced the first tournament she will participate in.
With the Australian Open slated to take place next month, the players would look to get acclimatized to the conditions in Australia. The United Cup presents a perfect opportunity for the players to warm up for the first Grand Slam tournament of the season. Some of the top players in the world are expected to play at the United Cup, and Gauff is among them.
Earlier today, she took to her official Instagram handle and shared a story about announcing her participation in the United Cup. Sharing a reel of Team USA at the tournament, Gauff wrote, “Excited for the new szn @unitedcuptennis @westernaustralia,” as she confirmed her participation in the United Cup. The multi-nation event will be held from Dec 27 to Jan 5, 2025, in Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney.
Gauff will lead a strong American team at the event. She will be joined by Taylor Fritz, Denis Kudla, Robert Galloway, Danielle Collins, and Desirae Krawczyk. Further, Team USA will begin their journey in Perth and are placed in Group A alongside Canada and Croatia. It remains to be seen how Gauff begins her next season after capping off the 2024 season on a high.
Meanwhile, many tennis pundits are impressed with how Gauff overcame her weaknesses to clinch the year-ending championship. A tennis analyst, Levi Huddleston, opened up about Gauff’s performance at the WTA Finals, especially in the match against Aryna Sabalenka.
Tennis analyst feels that Coco Gauff is making improvements on her serve
Gauff’s serve has come under massive scanner this season. She has committed numerous double faults and has had to eventually pay the price for it in some of the big matches. However, during the semifinal match against Aryna Sabalenka at the WTA Finals, Gauff put her weakness behind her and went on to defeat her rival in straight sets.
Crediting Gauff for overcoming her weak point, Levi Huddleston revealed, “I would say that when they met at the US Open, you know Coco Gauff hit 19 double faults. So like, I think, Coco, now that she is making some improvement on that serve, perhaps it will be a different match if we see them play again. So there’s a lot of room for her to improve on that serve. I think she has, so I think, it would be really exciting to see what that matchup looks like at the AO.”
Nonetheless, Sabalenka will start the season as the top-ranked female player and will be the defending champion at the Australian Open. Thus, it would be no mean feat for Gauff to brush off Sabalenka’s challenge in 2025. Are you backing Coco Gauff to win her second Grand Slam title in Melbourne?
