Formula 1 fans from Kansas City are rooting for another Verstappen win in Miami GP.
The Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix saw an overwhelming attendance as racing enthusiasts from various parts of the United States and around the globe flocked to the event to witness their favorite drivers in action.
Estimates place the total number of attendees at around 275,000 within the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens, demonstrating that the allure of Formula 1 transcends borders and cultures, uniting fans worldwide in their passion for the sport. Arguably nowhere is this more evident than in the thoughts of travelling fans who spoke to MARCA about their love for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and how he would do in the race.
Two fans from Kansas City predicted that Verstappen — who opened the Miami Grand Prix in pole position — would win this race for the third year running. They are used to dominance like this in Kansas City, seeing as the NFL’s Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls, and three championships in the past five seasons.
The Chiefs connection at the Miami GP runs deep, as Patrick and Brittany Mahomes attended the event and took part in pre-race events. Travis Kelce also arrived in time for the 57-lap race, after he watched the Kentucky Derby on Saturday and signed a contract extension with the Chiefs earlier in the week.
